Top 10 Universities of Arab Region and their World Ranks

 

Thinking of studying abroad, we only imagine going to USA, UK or some English or European country. USA and UK may provide the better quality of education but they are not the only one in the world.

Today I am sharing Top 10 universities of Arab region, their standards, and world ranks. So, you know, Europe is not the only choice you have, we have also Arab with us where it will be easier for us to fit in since all countries there are Muslims.

 

1 -   King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM)

King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals is a public university in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. It was on Founded in September 23, 1963.

It is Ranked 225th in world and top ranked best university in Arab according to QS world Ranking 2015.

Because of its name it may sound like it only teaches about Petroleum and Mineral but, in fact, they teach a wide range of courses including, engineering, medical, mathematics and computer sciences,

It is currently educating 7,000 Undergraduates and 500 Postgraduates. Their total academic staff consist of 800.


 

2 -   American University of Beirut (AUB)

The American University of Beirut‎‎ is a private, secular and independent university in Beirut, Lebanon. It was established in 1866.

It is the top ranked university of Lebanon. Ranked 2nd in Arab Region and 249th of World. It offers a wide range of courses.

It is currently educating 8,315 students of which 6,676 are undergraduate. It has a huge 61 acres campus.


 

3 -   King Saud University

King Saud University is a public university in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, founded in 1957 by King Saud bin Abdul-Aziz.

It is 2nd best ranked university in Saudi Arabia. QS Top Universities has ranked it 3rd best of Arab region and 249th, with American University of Beirut, in World ranking of QS top universities 2015.

It has a huge campus of 2,224 acres. Two languages English and Arabic are used there. It offers a variety of global courses to students.

Students have to pass an Arabic Language test in order to get admission here. However, they also offer English-taught Engineering and Medical courses.

By 2015 it was teaching 55,000 students from all over the world and all this is managed by the administrative staff of 4,950.


 

4 -   King Abdulaziz University (KAU)

King Abdulaziz University was founded in 1967 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. 

It is also one of the best universities in Saudi Arabia as it is ranked 3rd there. It is placed 334th in the latest world rankings and it is considered 4th best ranked university in Arab Region.

It is currently educating 180,212 students managed administrative staff of2,300. They are offer a big range of courses in every field possible.


 

5 -   American University in Cairo

The American University in Cairo is an independent, English language, Research University located in Cairo, Egypt. It was founded in 1919.

It is the highest ranked university of Egypt. It is Ranked 5th top of Arab Region and holds 360th position in the overall world rankings.

It is currently home to 6,835 seekers of knowledge, of which, 1,178 are postgraduate and the rest are Undergraduate.

It has beautiful, cultural attractive campus. It also offers a wide of courses just as many as any other top university.


 

6 -   United Arab Emirates University

United Arab Emirates University is the oldest university in the United Arab Emirates. It was established after independence from the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, in 1976.

It is located in the city of Al Ain, an oasis city in the Abu Dhabi emirate.

It is ranked 6th in the Arab region and 385th in the overall world rankings. Currently 12,884 of Undergraduate and 676 or Postgraduate are studying here.

According a survey conducted in 204, 77% students here were female and 15 of students were from Gulf countries.


 

7 -   American University of Sharjah

American University of Sharjah is a co-educational institution of higher education in the United Arab Emirates. It was founded in 1997 by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al-Qasimi.

This university is ranked 390th in the world and holds 7th position in the best universities of Arab Region by QS Arab university ranking.

It currently houses 5,553 undergraduate and 458 postgraduate students. It has a campus that comprises 316 acres.

 University of Sharjah is highly reputed for its English language & literature programs.


 

8 -   University of Jordan

The University of Jordan is a state-supported university located in Amman, Jordan. It was founded in 1962, it is the largest and oldest institution of higher education in Jordan.

University of Jordan ranks 8th in the Arab region and in the 651-700 range in the overall world rankings by QS 2015. 

It is currently housing 31,855 students of Post and Undergraduate in a campus of 300 acres.

University of Jordan has a strong academic emphasis on the life sciences i.e. dentistry, medicine, pharmacy and nursing. Other than these programs in the arts and humanities, business, law, engineering and technology, IT and agriculture are also offered there.


 

9-   Cairo University

Cairo University was founded on 21 December 1908. It is located in Egypt. It is also known as Egyptian University.

It is the second oldest and highest ranked university in Egypt, Cairo. In 2015, it was ranked 9th best university of Arab region and within 551 – 600 in overall world ranking.

It has 280, 000 students and a faculty of 12,158 for academics. Its main is in Giza city of Egypt. It has three Nobel Laureates among its graduates.

Saddam Hussein and Yaseer Arafat are one of their notable Alumnus.


 

10 -   Jordan University of Science and Technology

The Jordan University of Science and Technology is a, state-supported university located on the outskirts of Irbid, in northern Jordan. It was founded in 1986.

Jordan University ranks 10th in the Arab region and 651-700 in the world ranking of QS Top Universities.

Jordan University is known for its technical programs, in particular within engineering, science, technology and the life sciences.

Currently there are 21,559 students admitted, of which, 20,000 are undergraduate and the rest of postgraduate administered by academic staff of 717. It offers all courses a well reputed institute should.
