The Geographical Club Award provides two awards to support PhD students undertaking geographical fieldwork or other forms of data collection in the UK or overseas to advance geographical knowledge or understanding. One award is given for Physical and one for Human Geography. No restrictions are placed on the research topic or location.

Candidates will need to meet the following entry requirements for the programme:
Normally a UK 2.1 Honours degree (or equivalent qualification acceptable to the University) and a UK Master’s degree in a relevant discipline with a final result of at least 60% (or equivalent qualification acceptable to the University).
In cases where students have not completed a Master’s degree, applications may be considered where students hold a first-class UG degree from a high-ranking, research-focused university and have demonstrated an ability to conduct academic research.

Benefits
The University of Warwick will provide the full fees for three years to the successful candidates. The scholarship is full-time fees only and excludes living costs, travel etc. Up to one scholarship can be provided to cover the current overseas fee (Band 1).

Scholarship value/inclusions:
A Gates Cambridge Scholarship covers the full cost of studying at Cambridge including tuition fees, maintenance allowance (£20,000 for 12 months at the 2023-24 rate; pro rata for courses shorter than 12 months) – for PhD scholars the award is for up to 4 years), one economy single airfare at both the beginning and end of the course and inbound visa costs & the cost of the Immigration Health Surcharge.
It also provides additional, discretionary funding such as academic development funding, family allowance, fieldwork, etc.

Scholarship value/inclusions/duration:
All Clarendon Scholarships cover tuition and college fees in full.
Scholars on a full-time course receive a generous annual grant for living costs – which will be at least £17,668 for 2023-24. Scholars on a part-time course will receive a study support grant, to assist with non-fee costs. Scholars on a part-time course will receive a study support grant, to assist with non-fee costs.
The scholarships are normally offered for the full period for which you are liable to pay tuition fees to the University, which is usually the same as the length of your course.
