Global Korea Scholarship is designed to provide international students with opportunities to study at higher educational institutions in Korea in pursuit of academic degrees, which will enhance international education exchange and deepen mutual friendship between Korea and participating countries.
Number Of Scholarships
Total number of scholarships are 220, out of which 185 are for bachelor’s degree and 35 for associate degree programs
Degree and Duration Of Scholarship
- For Bachelor’s degree: 1 year of Korean language training + 4-6 years of degree program
- For Associate degree program: 1 year of Korean language training + 2-3 years of degree program
- Though Pakistan is not eligible to apply for associate degree program

Eligibility Criteria For GKS
Applicants who fullfil the following criteria are eligible to apply for scholarship
- Must be a citizen of listed countries eligible to apply for GKS scholarship
- Not have permanent residency in Korea
- Not have dual nationality
- Age must not be more than 25 years
- Must hold high school degree
- Must have 80% marks to win scholarship
- Must be medically fit

University Track GKS Application Process
60 students form eligible countries will be selected for undergraduate Global Korean Scholarship
Documents Required For GKS
Applicant have to submit the following documents
- GKS application form
- Personal statement
- Study plan
- Letters of recommendation (2)
- GKS applicant agreement
- Medical certificate
- Certificate of high school graduation
- High school grade transcripts
- Letter of motivation
- Birth certificate
Restrictions To Apply
Key points are listed here, that may disqualify the applicant
- Applicants who have graduated from Korean university are not eligible to apply
- Applicants who have previously received scholarship from Korean government are not eligible to apply
- Applicant must choose one track either they can apply through embassy or through university
- Applicant who had withdrawn for the scholarship after being selected as scholar are not eligible to apply
- Applicants who have applied for bachelor’s degree cannot apply for associate degree
- University track applicants can apply to one university and one department
- Entry flight ticket or any visa application support will NOT be provided to scholars who enter Korea from a country other than the scholar’s own country of citizenship.
- All documents must be notarized Consular authentication or apostille is also required
Applications Submission
Online applications must be submitted to the embassy or university directly. Deadline for university track application process is 20th October 2022. For embassy it varies country to country.
GKS Selection Criteria
There are three rounds in the selection criteria of the Global Korean scholarship. After passing all three rounds and getting a perfect medical certificate the candidate will get admission to South Korean university.
