Eligibility Criteria For Fulbright Scholarships

• Applying candidate must be a Pakistani resident.

• Have a strong academic history and must have completed his or her education in Pakistan.

• If necessary, applicants should be prepared to finish grants without accompanying dependents.

• Candidates are eligible to apply in any academic field except clinical medicine.

• For the master’s degree program a candidate must have completed four years bachelor’s degree or equivalent 16 years of education from a recognized institute.

• For the PhD degree program, an applicants should have a Master’s, MPhil or equivalent degree (a minimum of 18 years of formal education) from a recognised university of Pakistan. Candidates with past teaching experience are highly desirable.

• Graduate Record Examination (GRE) score is required while applying.

• Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is mandatory for all the selected candidates.

• All selected candidates are required to sign a contract with USEFP and PhD candidates, a bond with the HEC that binds them to return to The Pakistan immediately after completing their program in the U.S. and serve their own country.

Fulbright Scholarship Application Process

• All the Candidates are required to apply online for the Fulbright scholarship. Paper applications or application received by mail will not be entertained.

• All interested candidates are directed to create an account for online applications on the USEFP’s official website.

• A candidate is instructed to provide only accurate information in all of the sections of an application, from personal information to required documents.

• A candidate must take the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) either before or during the application process.

Required Documents For Fulbright Scholarship

• Academic Transcripts.

• Explanation of grading scale of the institute/university that issued degree to the candidate.

• Three reference letters.

• Graduate Record Examination (GRE) score report.

• TOEFL (only for selected candidates)

• Personal documents attested by HEC.

Who Are Ineligible To Apply For Fulbright Scholarship 

• Individuals who hold dual nationalities of Pakistan and the United States, as well as those who have a spouse, parent, sibling, or child over the age of 18 who is permanent resident of the United States.

• Employees of the Fulbright organization, USAID, and the U.S. Department of State, as well as their spouses, children, fiancés, siblings, and parents.

• Individuals who have previously applied for a Fulbright award for any degree program.

• Individuals who are either on a work, residence, or student visa in any country or who are currently enrolled in school in the United States.

Fulbright Scholarship Important Instructions

• All selected students will be able to enrol in the University of their Choice.

• Documents attested by the HEC are preferred, but the degree and transcripts attested by the issuing authority will be acceptable.

• Your GRE Test cost can be reimbursed by USEFP if you score 300 in engineering and science subjects, 290 in humanities and social science subjects.

• At any stage of the application, plagiarism will result in disqualification.    

Fulbright Scholarship Application And Selection Cycle

• Each year, applications are accepted in January or February, and they must be submitted by April or May.

• The process of reviewing applications and conducting interviews continues through September.

• The outcomes are made public in the middle of October.

• The university submission and placement procedure continues after selection until February

• Visa interviews continue until June.

• Depending on the university reporting dates, departure to the United States begins in July.
