Bulgaria is the country of south Eastern Europe, and has Romania at north, Siberia and Macedonia at west, Greece and Turkey at south and Black sea at east. Bulgaria is the 17th largest country of Europe, total area 110,994 square kilometers. Bulgaria has standard and emerging market economy with the upper middle income range, where the accounts of private sector is over 80% of GDP.


Life In Bulgaria:

 

Most of the students choose Bulgaria as compared to other countries because cost of living such as cost accommodation, transportation, food is very low here. Higher Education In Bulgaria:

In Bulgaria all higher Education Institutes are sovereign and independent by higher Education act. For now in Bulgaria there are 51 higher education schools on tertiary Education system in which universities, colleges and specialized higher schools are included. There are 37 public institutes with 11 specialized higher schools, 1 college, 25 universities and 14 private institutes. In these institutes one academic year has 2 two semester and 32 academic weeks. Higher education’s institutes are divided in 3 types in Bulgaria; Specialized higher schools, self-contained colleges and universities.

They offer all 3 degrees in higher Education system 1st Bachelor, 2nd Master and 3rd Doctorate. Universities give training in extensive range of subjects on at least four branches of humanities, science, social and technical sciences. Specialized higher schools offer creative activities, scientific research and training in many major subjects of science, physical culture, arts and military science in degrees of master and doctor degrees.

Self-contained colleges provides training tools for educational and qualification degree of professional bachelors in every subject. Bulgarian Universities are ranked in top 200 institutes in Europe and central Asia by QS world ranking.


Top Universities in Bulgaria

There are total 51 universities that are allowed to issue a degree which is recognized worldwide. Numerous of these institutes are ranked among global universities.

 

Sofia Universities St. Kliment Ohridski:

 

Sofia Universities St. Kliment Ohridski is the oldest and largest University of Bulgaria. It was formed in 1888 in Capital city Sofia of Bulgaria. This University is also known as Sofia University. It has several campuses at different places of Capital city Sofia. It also offer degrees on wide range of subjects in the fields of humanities, medicine, sciences, law, IT and economics. Sofia University is also famous for its research and contributions to Antarctic exploration. In 1988, for honor of Sofia University, centennial mountains group were named Sofia University Mountains on Alexander Island at Antarctica. This University is ranked in top 50 Universities at 46th by QS world University rankings. Currently this university has over 25, thousand students, of which around 17.5 thousand students are in bachelors programs and 7.8 thousand students in master’s program. As of 2017, there are international 1,093 students in bachelors and 219 in masters program.

 

American University in Bulgaria:

American University in Bulgaria shortly known as AUBG was established in 1991. This University has about 939 students. As its clear from name courses of this University are in English. It has international faculty teaching students from 39 different countries. It is located in Blagoevgrad city at southwestern of Bulgaria. The bachelor Degree of this University is acceptable and recognized in both countries US and Bulgaria. In EECA ranking this University ranked 151-200.

 

Trakia University:

Trakia University was founded in 1995. This University is in Stara Zagora city at southern Bulgaria. Name of Trakia University was on historical region of Thrace. Mainly this University teaches in Bulgarian language but recently started some of programs in English as well in which medicine subjects in included. It has about 8.2 thousand students both from Bulgaria and also foreign. Trakia University is also ranked in EECA table at 151-200.


 

How To Take Admission And Cost:

Most of Bulgarian universities give admission without entrance exam, they just give admission on application and file documents. In case if you apply for scholarship then you have to pass a test. Prepare your documents and post it to university where you want to study. Then university will send your application to Ministry of Education and they will send you acceptance letter, which is also necessary for student visa.

 

How To Apply For Visa:

In order to apply for visa you documents including application form, high school diploma, transcript of diploma, medical record of one month, passport copy, acceptance letter from institute where you plan to study and 2 passport size photos. Visit Bulgarian embassy in your country to verify these documents. You also have to translate all documents in to Bulgarian and send to Ministry of Education of Bulgaria, they will recheck and send it back. After that embassy will register you for an interview. After passing that interview you will be able to get study visa.
