India Declares Kashmiris With A Medical Degree From PoK Won't Be Allowed To Do Practice In India

The Medical Council India, MCI declares through a public notice that medical degrees obtained from the medical colleges in Pakistan occupied Kashmir, KoP will not be recognized in India. Moreover, India blocks scholarships scheme, for 1,600 students from Kashmir that, is offered by The Prime Minister, Imran Khan every year.

What Triggers MCI To Take This Decision

The MCI declares the announcement after a month when The Jammu and Kashmir high court asked the MCI and the external affairs ministry to review their decisions whether the medical degrees from these territories will be recognized in India or not.

The matter comes to discussion after a petition from a young Kashmiri girl to the court when she disallowed to sit in the exam meant for the people who studied abroad. The discussion was still under wave when Pakistan’s government announced to extend the generous scholarship scheme for 1,600 Kashmiri students.

The Imran Khan governments’ outreach to Kashmiri students was declared a red-flagged by the Indian security agency. However, for years, Pakistan’s government aimed to offer cheaper higher education to the students of Kashmir.

What Reasons MCI Declares

Indian government claims that the entire territories of UT of Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh are an integral part of India. India says that any medical college located in Pakistan occupied Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh needs to get permission under the Indian Medical Council Act 1956. The Indian government also declares that such permission has not been decided for any medical institute located in PoJKL. This is the reason that the degrees from these trattorias will not be entertained in India. Therefore no doctors will be allowed to practice modern medicine in India under the Indian Medical Council Act 1956, declares by MCI.

Students who will get degrees from these territories will not be entitled to sit for an exam meant for foreigners. However, there is no agreement has been discussed in any meeting for discussing the security concerns for the scholarship scheme from PM Imran Khan. Moreover, there were questions around the governments’ power to restrict the citizens to study in certain institutes.
