KARACHI: The 9th Karachi International Book Fair 2013 has begun today at the Karachi Expo Centre for five days.
Pakistan Publishers and Booksellers Association (PPBA) have organized the book fair. The Book Fair has been inaugurated by the Provincial Education Minister Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, whereas the deputy speaker Sindh Assembly Shehla Raza was also honorary guest.
The event brings many publishing and distribution houses together with domestic and international publishers, booksellers, librarians and institutional customers. Publishers from Iran, India, Singapore, Malaysia, England, UAE and other courtiers are attending the international event.
These views were expressed by Convener to 9th KIBF Owais Mirza Jamil and Aziz Khalid, Chairman of Pakistan Publishers and Booksellers Association while speaking at a press conference, held at a local hotel here on Tuesday.
He said that National Book Foundation, Ministry of Education and Sindh government extended its full support in making the event a great success.
Convener of the KIBF, Owais Mirza Jamil said that the book fair hall number 1, 2 and 3 in Karachi Expo Centre, thousands of varieties of books will be displayed on over 315 stalls. As like a Novels, Scientific, History, Islamic, Medical, Engineering and most of others Aziz Khalid said: “Around 400,000 people are expected to attend the 9th KIBF.”
This event are visiting by books lovers, students from all groups of ages, professionals from all walks of life, academicians, writers, librarians and general public. Various book launching and book release ceremonies will also be held for notable writers during the fair besides entertaining various contests like drawing, recitation, extempore speech, and quiz for kids.
