Study finds an uncounted AUS$1 billion in Australian education exports

• A new study finds that official estimates of the size of Australia's education exports undervalue the sector by nearly AUS$1 billion
• Factoring in previously uncounted expenditures on short-term English language studies as well as revenues from offshore and distance programmes, the study estimates the real value of Australian education exports at nearly AUS$20 billion (US$15 billion) for 2014/15
• The Australian government launched an ambitious "whole-of-sector" international education strategy this week. The strategy is notable both in its ambition – to host, for example, 720,000 foreign students in Australia by 2025 – and in its comprehensive view of international education and education exports.
