
The United Nations Research Internship for Social Development is looking for top students from around the world who are in their final year of undergraduate or master's programs, or who have recently graduated in fields like social sciences, development studies, international relations, or public policy. Interns will work in the Office of the Director for a period of 3 to 6 months and will report to the UNRISD Director. The internship offers a flexible setup, so you can either be on-site in Geneva (Switzerland) or Bonn (Germany), or choose to work a mix of in-person and remote from July to September 2025.

Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the UNRISD Internship, here’s what you need:
- You should be in your last year of an undergraduate degree or currently doing a master’s degree.
- Your studies should be in social sciences, development studies, international relations, public policy, or something similar.
- If you’ve already graduated with one of those degrees, you can apply too.
- You need to be in Geneva for in-person meetings.
- Keep in mind, you'll need to cover your own travel and insurance costs during the internship.
- Strong research and analytical skills are a must.
- Good English communication skills are also important.
Intern Role
- Interns will look into topics connected to the Second World Summit for Social Development.
- They'll analyze policies and write up reports.
- Attend a key meeting with the Director and help with sending follow-up emails.
- Do basic admin tasks as directed by the assigned director.
- Go to meetings and conferences related to the summit.
- Take notes during the meeting and write reports based on those notes.
