Undergraduate Students
Undergraduate students from all over the world will be invited to apply for the research summer internship program through the University of Tokyo, UTRIP. Natural sciences, engineering, and agriculture-based students will be given hands-on research experience by qualified researchers at one of Japan's leading universities.
Research Fields
The research projects will take place within the context of the internship itself, seminars attended, and other social activities participated in. The above program is for an in-depth understanding of Japanese culture but with the intention of fostering international cooperation in research. The internship is 6-8 weeks and is taken during summer holidays. Pre-benefits will be a stipend paid for day-to-day living costs and accommodation and travel support.

Eligibility

The University of Tokyo Summer Internship is available for international students coming from all over the world.

The students who have enrollment in more or second year at any recognized college or university outside Japan are eligible to apply for the UTRIP Summer Internship Program in Japan 2025.

The applicant must have, by the date of application, had already undergone one full year of a Bachelor's degree program.

This highly competitive program offers a preferential opportunity in selection to those entering their third year of a four-year undergraduate degree, or their second year in a three-year Bachelor's program. All second year students on four-year programs are also encouraged to apply for the fully funded University of Tokyo Summer Internship Program 2025.

The applicant interested in this UTRIP Internship 2025 must also be enrolled in any area of natural science or an allied field.

Applications of the applicants for the UTRIP Internship 2025 must also manifest an interest in realizing long-term objectives for a scientific career.

Like that, the applicants need to commit to engaging themselves completely for all the six consecutive weeks of the 2025 UTRIP program, scheduled between 25 June and 5 August 2025 full-time.

An applicant, whose native language is not English, shall have to submit test scores from TOEFL or any other such competent English proficiency test, like IELTS.
