World’s 10 Best Institutes in Sciences Research with Best Labs and Faculties

1 -   Chinese Academy of Sciences
 
It was established in 1949 in Beijing. Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) is the world’s largest scientific organization, comprising 114 institutes and 48,500 researchers. According to Nature Index it is the best Research center in the world. They were ranked according to their contribution in the Published Science Research paper and their leading journals. About half of the top scientists in global Nanoscience are Chinese scientists.
 
CAS has more than 100 research institutes, 12 branch academies and 3 universities all over China. These institutions are home to more than 130 national key laboratories and engineering centers along with over 210 observation stations. CAS is also constructing and operating more than 20 national Mega-Science facilities. CAS had a staff number of more than 68,700, and over 55,000 graduate students when last checked in 2014.
 
 

 
2 -   Harvard University
Harvard University has always been one of top 3 universities of world. Harvard is a world top class institute with just 5.2% of acceptance rate in 2016. Alumni of Harvard are literally top leaders of the world e.g. Mark Zuckerburg (CEO and owner of Facebook, one of top 10 wealthiest man), Bill Gate (CEO and owner of Microsoft, world’s wealthiest man) were Harvard students.
 
Nature Index has ranked Harvard as 2nd best institute of world in Sciences Research. It contributes the two third of its research in Life Sciences. The Harvard Medical School (HMS), established in 1782, is one of the discipline’s high-fliers. Since the 1930s, fifteen researchers from HMS have shared in nine Nobel Prizes. 3 -   French National Centre for Scientific Research
 
French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS) is the largest fundamental research organization in Europe, comprising ten institutions with more than 32,000 researchers, engineers and technicians. However it is not a university. It is just a Research organization that only hires professional scientist.
 
CNRS has now become a key player in planetary science. CNRS engineers have been operating and maintaining instruments on board NASA’s Curiosity Rover, which has been exploring Mars since 2012.

4 -   Max Planck Society
 
Ranked fourth in the Nature Index, the Max Planck Society of Germany has scored this top position because of its contributions in Physical Sciences. They have won nine noble prizes since 1914. . However, it is also not a university. It is government-funded association of research institute.
 
The society has a total staff of approximately 17,000 permanent employees, including 5,470 scientists, plus around 4,600 non-tenured scientists and guests. Society budget for 2015 was about 189.44 billion rupees.
 

 
5 -   Stanford University
Stanford University is located in a state of USA, California. It is one of the five top universities of world. It is an elite educational institute ranked among Oxford, Harvard, MIT and Cambridge.
 
The current community of scholars includes 20 Nobel Prize winners, four Pulitzer Prize recipients and 29 MacArthur Fellows. There is a Stanford Hall of Fame that honors their inventors. In July, 2015 they welcomed six new technologies and honored 27 new creative inventors. Each new technology has earned more than $5 million.

6 -   University of Tokyo
The University of Tokyo situated in Japan, has 10 faculties with a total of around 30,000 students, 2,100 of whom are foreign. University of Tokyo’s Graduate School of Frontier Sciences was involved in a 10 year long project with four countries to establish the presence of a giant ocean that wraps Saturn’s moon, Encheladus, beneath its crust. Last year’s Nobel Prize for Physics went to Takaaki Kajita, the director of the University of Tokyo’s Institute for Cosmic Ray Research.
 
Its five campuses are in Hongo, Komaba, Kashiwa, Shirokane and Nakano. It has produced many notable people. 15 prime ministers of Japan have studied at the University of Tokyo. In 2012, it was ranked 1st of Asia and 20th best educational institute in world.
 

 
7 -   Massachusetts Institute of Technology
Massachusetts Institute of Technology, founded in 1861, is among world’s top 3 universities. It is a private research university in Cambridge which is inventing new innovative technologies every day. Once in 2014 they actually had open hacking challenge competition. MIT students are easily hired by any organization. Here is a link of MIT’s latest achievements.
 
A 2015 report suggested that 30,000 companies founded by MIT alumni were active as of 2014, employing 4.6 million people and producing annual revenues of $1.9 trillion. Eighty-five present and former members of the MIT community have won the Nobel Prize, including nine current faculty members.

8 -   Helmholtz Association of German Research Centers
 
Helmholtz Association of German Research Centers is the largest scientific organization in Germany. It is a union of 18 scientific-technical and biological-medical research centers. It has about 38,000 employees and an annual budget of nearly $4.25 billion. However, it is also not university but you can go work with them if you are a profound scientist and eligible for their merit.
 
The scientific portfolio of the Association is divided into six strategic research fields: Energy; Earth and Environment; Health; Key Technologies; Matter; and Aeronautics, Space and Transport. In a recent paper in Nature Photonics, they demonstrated a way to store optical information that could dramatically reduce the power consumption and increase the speed of optical communication networks.
 

 
9-   University of Oxford
Oxford University, situated in England, is without a doubt one of the oldest and best universities in the world. It is among top 3 universities of the world and has a presence rank of 1st. It has produced 16 Nobel Laureates. It is currently home to more than 23,000 students.
 
Oxford researchers are currently exploring the negative effects of loud noise in an intensive care unit. Another group of scientists have recently sequenced seven genomes of the Brazilian Zika virus taken from seven different individuals infected with the virus to determine when and where it entered the Americas.
 
 

 
10 -   University of Cambridge
University of Cambridge, founded in 1209, has always been one of the top 3 three universities of the world. It is also situated in England, UK. It is said that it actually was founded by some academics of Oxford but it has proved its worth being one of world’s top universities and rivalling the Oxford University itself.
 
One of the key contributors to the university’s research output is the Cavendish Laboratory, which is the largest physics department in the UK and birthplace of ground-breaking discoveries such as the structure of DNA, and the splitting of the atom.
