In most foreign universities an interview is conducted in order personally test the capabilities of a student besides his Resume and Academic Certificates. Students may think that once you have submitted the documents and you are short listed this is it. But, sorry to say, there is one more step and possibly quite a lot can wrong during it. A tiny little mistake and all your efforts in vain.
For a student, interviews can be for Scholarship, Visa or Admission. In both cases, they may call you online on Skype or may be to their office. Following the worst mistakes a student makes during his/her interview when university calls in. Make sure, you watch out for them and shine brighter than your applicants.
1 - Using your Mobile during Interview:
It often happens when an applicant intentionally or unintentionally takes his/her mobile phone out during an interview. It may be because we have to see a call or message that may be important. Either way, when your mobile rings or vibrates it really distracts your and keep distracting you until it turns off.
Interviewers don’t like this gesture that you are using or even seeing a mobile phone while they are in a discussion. It is like ignoring them and considered disrespectful. My suggestion to you is to turn your mobile phone off when you are going in for interview so it will not disturb you. Don’t worry about it, no one is going to die while you are in interview for 10 minutes.

2 - Informal Dressing:
You are student, everyone knows that and you will usually be dressed like a student. But when going for university’s admission interview, you must dress formally. In short, don’t be yourself. May be for admission not a job but still it is an interview where people will be judging you.
It is always best to dress formally and not in T-shirts or Jeans. It presents expression of how serious you are. If you show up in Jeans, it gives an image like you do not really care about this. This mistake may take your one in a lifetime opportunity of quality education away from you.
3 - Showing Up Late:
This is the one of the worst things you could possibly do wrong. Showing up late even for an important interview gives out two messages. One is that you are not serious about this. Second is that you are not punctual. A man who is not punctual can’t be trusted with anything.
Everyone is already knows about this problem but you should also take precautionary measures to avoid it. Make sure you have everything prepared in advance and divide every task with respect to time.
4 - Showing Too Soon:
Just like showing up late, reaching too soon for interview is also not going to help. Whether you come before, interview will be conducted on scheduled time. So, if you show up too soon and interviewer knows that, it will make him feel bad that you have been waiting all that time. He will feel guilt and that because of your gesture, it puts him in pressure and you in danger since, he already dislikes you.

5 - Criticizing Old Institution:
If you have ever been to an interview you must know that you will be engaged in discussion the whole time. It purpose is to judge you by your talks. That is why you have to be careful not to get personal or informal. They will ask you different questions that will describe the personality you possess.

Now, one mistake here many students do is they may criticize their old institution or teachers. No matter what you do, don’t say badly about your previous school, college or any teacher. Show gratitude for whatever you had. If you are to speak ill it manifests an unappreciative appearance. Why would someone ever give an unthankful man an opportunity?
6- Social Media Disclosure
A lot social media geeks can be seen these days who like to consider themselves as social media stars because they somehow get 100 like or views on their posts and updates. This little attention makes them feel like a star and start sharing everything according to their intellect.
Little do they know, it has become a trend to check an applicant’s social media profiles to judge him/her. People show too much of their personality online. What they don’t realize that may be they are being racist, selfish, psycho or fool. Look at the following post updated on Facebook and think, would you give such guy an important opportunity when you have others waiting for it.
My suggestion to you is to keep private life private, no one needs to know what your thoughts about any matter. Even if you have to share certain things, make sure you keep privacy between your friends and don’t’ make it public. And by the way, don’t worry about Asif since he regained his friendship with Mudassar.
