Eligibility requirements for doctoral education

General eligibility requirement
Have been awarded a second-cycle/advanced/master qualification (i.e. master degree)
Have satisfied the requirements for courses comprising at least 240 credits of which at least 60 credits were awarded in the advanced/second-cycle/master level
Have acquired substantially equivalent knowledge in some other way in Sweden or abroad.

This PhD project aims at giving a deep education in basic science and tissue healing biology. The PhD student will be working in an interdisciplinary environment, in strong collaboration between clinical departments, experts within basic science, and other national and international research groups.

Admission Requirements:
The candidate should have a master’s degree or equivalent in biomedicine, cellular biology, medicine, or related disciplines. Good communicative skills are highly valued.
Language Requirement:
Applicants must show proficiency in English equivalent to the course English B/English 6 at Swedish upper secondary school.

The position is part of the EU-financed project “Bryomolecules,” focusing on systematic bioprospecting of European bryophyte species for biologically active compounds.
The project work includes field collection of bryophytes, curation of axenic bryophyte cultures, experimental work with bioreactors, infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), DNA/RNA extractions, RNA library preparations, and bioinformatic processing of next-generation sequence data.
The overall goals are to optimize the production of secondary substances for industrial purposes and to better understand the biological role of bryophyte secondary substances in natural habitats.
