Hood College International Merit scholarship 2024 Overview 

• Every year, Hood College gives away more than $6 million merit-based scholarships that also includes scholarships for first-year students coming in from high school also for students transferring from other colleges.

• Community activities, specific academic achievements, leadership, Overall academic performance and participation in school are important factors in getting scholarship in case of both first-year and transfer students.

• Students will be considered for scholarship from time to time each year for each category of scholarships that Hood institute provides.

• The maximum award that would be given will be decided by the Hood college committee.

The various categories of the Hood College scholarship are as follows-

1. Founders Scholarship –Given to first year students who have high academic background.

2. Hodson -Gilliam Scholarship- Those first year including Pakistani students who belong to a community which traditionally do not have an access to high school education.

3. The Hood College S- STEM Program: Hood’s National Science Foundation provide funds for this program. It cover partial fee 7500 $ for highly talented transferred students   

4. Teacher Academy of Maryland Scholarship –Those Pakistani students who have fulfilled criteria for TAM program completion.

5. Endowed and annually funded scholarships--- it is funded by office f financial aid in collaboration with the office of institutional advancement and various academic departments. Scholarships area warded on an annual basis

What is Eligibility Criteria for Hood College Scholarship 2024

• Applicants must complete the Hood College S-STEM scholarship application form by August 1.

• Applicants must complete their Hood College Admissions and FAFSA applications by August 1.

• Applicants must submit a recommendation letter from a high school or college science or math teacher, or recommendation letter from a current or previous professor

• Applicants should have an overall grade point average of 3.0 or greater

• Scholarship finalist must be willing to participate in virtual interviews

• Applicants must be seeking a degree in the areas offered at Hood College such as biology, biochemistry, chemistry, environmental science, math, computer science or computational science

• Applicants must enroll full-time at Hood College beginning fall 2024.

• Students who plan on careers that include K-12 education or medicine and medical related fields (including nursing or public health) are not eligible for scholarship funding under this program.

• Only students transferring from another institution of higher education are eligible for up to two years of continuous support

Documents Required For Admission

Once the admission application is submitted to Hood College, selected applicant will automatically be considered for scholarship too, so the following documents are needed at the time of application that can be submitted through online application or can be sent through mail to international@hood.edu

• Complete online application

• Official transcripts from each secondary and post-secondary school that students have been attended. International transcripts must be translated and evaluated by a professional organization.

• Submit on of the following English language proficiency certificate

• PTE – 53

• DET – 100

• Student have to provide proof of financial support for at least one year of tuition fee, living expenses  through bank statement which is estimated 45,000 USD at the time of application

• Submit a copy of passport

• Submit writing sample

• Letter of recommendations

• ACT or SAT score (if required)

After submission of application student must be prepared for interview with an admission counselor
