The Road to Research Scholarship is intended for applicants starting the Master of Research (MRes) in Session 2, 2025 (July 2025) at Macquarie University. This grant is intended to help students complete short research projects within the MRes framework.

Scholarship Overview

Eligibility Criteria

To be considered for the Road to Research Scholarship, applicants must complete the following requirements:

• Residency and Location:
  • Applicants must be in Australia at the time of application.
  • Applicants must plan to live in Sydney, Australia throughout their candidature.
• Enrollment:
  • Applicants must begin the Master of Research (MRes) program in Session 2, 2025 (July 2025).
  • Applicants must enroll full-time.
• Academic requirements:
  • Applicants must meet the MRes program's entrance criteria, which include English language competence requirements. ​
  • Applicants must provide confirmation of supervision from an eligible Macquarie University researcher. This is required for the Faculty of Medicine, Health, and Human Sciences (FMHHS) and highly recommended for other faculties. ​
• Visa Status
  • International applicants must have a valid Student Visa or another visa type that allows for full-time study in Australia until at least the end of 2026.

Benefits of the Scholarship

• Tuition Fee Offset: Covers tuition fees for the MRes program for up to one year.
• Living Allowance: The Living Allowance Stipend provides AUD $38,500 for one year to cover living expenditures. ​

Note that the stipend is intended to support full-time education and does not cover all living expenses.
