Sustainable Energy Transitions

The world is experiencing an energy transition, and Ireland is coming forward to play a critical part in this global shift toward a more sustainable and clean energy future. The Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) will offer the Energise Fellowship Programme again in 2025, with the goal of supporting top-tier energy research and innovation. This initiative provides an excellent opportunity for postdoctoral scholars and experienced experts to help shape Ireland's energy future.
What is the SEAI Energise Fellowship?
The SEAI Energise Fellowship Programme 2025 is an initiative to support researchers in the field of sustainable energy by providing both academic and SEAI-based fellowships. This program assists the next generation of researchers by giving financing, mentorship, and resources to work on vital research areas that will help Ireland achieve its clean energy targets.

Academic Fellowships
These fellowships enable early-stage postdoctoral researchers to lead initiatives that are consistent with SEAI's Research, Development, and Demonstration (RDD) objectives. Researchers will be stationed in Irish third-level educational institutions, and they will be able to propose their own research topics related to Ireland's clean energy transition.
SEAI-Based Fellowships
This route enables fellows to conduct research directly at SEAI's Dublin headquarters. SEAI will concentrate its research efforts in five major areas by 2025, including:
- An innovation-to-impact approach is being used to speed Ireland's transition to sustainable energy.
- Evaluating the costs and advantages of energy programs for different groups.
- To assess the outcomes of energy programs, mixed and qualitative methodologies are used.
- Behavioral science can be used to understand and change energy-related behaviors.
- Investigating the possibility of storage devices and technologies to protect vulnerable households from volatile fossil fuel prices.
Eligibility Criteria
To apply for the SEAI Energise Fellowship, candidates must complete the following requirements:
- Educational Requirements: Applicants must hold a PhD or similar research experience.
- Institutional Support: Candidates must have the endorsement of an Irish third-level institution.
- Research Focus: Proposed projects should be in line with SEAI's RDD objectives.
- Residency Requirements: For SEAI-based scholarships, candidates must be based in Dublin.
- Language Proficiency: All documentation and reporting require proficiency in English.
Application Deadline
