Criteria: To be eligible, the applicants must meet all the following criteria:

Have a minimum of 80% admission average or equivalent
Demonstrate exceptional leadership qualities

Academic Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or its equivalent.
Language requirements: Proficiency in French or English depends upon the programmes.
French: DELF B2 or its equivalent.
TOEFL iBT 85 or IELTS 6.5 or its equivalent.
GPA: Minimum GPA of 3.3 or equivalent.
Test Scores: GRE, GMAT, or other test scores, as required by the program.
Letters of Recommendation: Two or three letters of recommendation.
Personal Statement: A personal statement or statement of purpose.
Visa Requirements: International students should meet the visa requirements for Canada.
Health Insurance: International students must have health insurance that covers them for the entire period of study.

We offer MAs in Literary Studies, Rhetoric and Communication Design, and Experimental Digital Media. Our PhD offers a unique integration of literary studies with such fields as rhetoric, new media, and discourse analysis. Our degrees will prepare you for work in and beyond the academy.

Your admission requirements
Admission to UBC is competitive, and your requirements change depending on your degree and campus of choice. All applicants must meet UBC’s general admission requirements and English Language Admission Standard.
Eligibility
Be new to UBC, entering directly from secondary school.
Be an international student who will be studying at UBC on a Canadian study permit (student visa). (Changes to your citizenship status will affect your IMES eligibility.)

Not be nominated for a need-and-merit-based International Scholars award.
The Merit College Scholarship for Leadership and Academic Excellence at the University of Toronto is to be awarded to a full-time international undergraduate student entering their 1st year at University of Toronto who graduated from Merit College/Merit Education with demonstrated leadership and academic excellence.
