EACTS-MSTCVS Quality & Outcomes Fellowship 2025/26: Fully Funded Opportunity for Cardiothoracic Surgeons in the USA

The MSTCVS Quality Collaborative focuses on sharing best practices and surgical results to enhance patient care. It works on quality improvement projects using local and national data, recent research, and current guidelines in cardiac and thoracic surgery.

As a Fellow, you'll get the chance to collaborate with a diverse team in Ann Arbor, Michigan, led by Dr. Francis Pagani, a well-known expert in clinical outcomes and quality improvement.

Fellowship overview

During the four-month Fellowship, the chosen Fellow will:

  • Work with the team’s statistician to figure out the right analytical methods focused on areas like atrial fibrillation or CABG.
  • Possibly take part in a site visit at one of 33 hospitals to share best practices or check out outcomes if it happens during your time here.
  • Pull together data and prepare analyses for the team’s quarterly meetings.
  • Help with organizing and running the quarterly meetings.
  • Attend weekly meetings with the Project Director (RLP).
  • Create a data-driven abstract or manuscript while being part of this group.
  • Present surgical outcomes data at a future meeting.
  • Share what you learned during the experience with the Board of the Francis Fontan Fellowship Fund or at another EACTS meeting.

Funding

We're giving out a €20,000 bursary to help cover your living and travel expenses for this Fellowship. Plus, EACTS will chip in to help with the costs of attending the 2025 EACTS Annual Meeting.
