Hong Kong is considered as the excellent study destination and ranked number 12th as the best study abroad country regarding quality of education. Hong Kong is known as an education hub at very affordable cost with multicultural environment. Hong Kong provide the opportunity for its graduates to extend their visas after completion of academics there.

Research Grant Council (RGC) is an organization established an annual based fellowship scheme for PhD international students in Hong Kong since 2009. The main aim of this council is to attract the international students with an excellent education score who want to start their PhD from Hong Kong.

Who Are Eligible For Hong Kong PhD Fellowship?

Applicants who want to pursue PhD on scholarship from Hong Kong have to fulfil the following criteria

Must be a new enrolled PhD student at Hong Kong’s university
Must be an international identity holder
Must have an excellent education record
Strong research background
Must be a bulge of interpersonal, communication and leadership skills
Applicants with some work experience will be preferred

Hong Kong Fellowship Participating Universities

Following of eight Hong Kong universities are participating for fellowship scheme through research grant council

University	Funding and Scholarship Grants
Hong Kong Baptist University	Entrance Award: HK$ 25,000 Monthly Stipend: HK$ 27,100 or HK$ 325,200 per year for 4 years Living Allowance: HK$ 25,000 per year for 3 years Tuition Waiver: HK$ 42,100 per year for 4 years Conference and Research Travel Allowance: HK$ 32,100 annually Accommodation for 1st year will be provided by the university
Lingnan University	Monthly Stipend: HK$ 18,440
The Chinese University of Hong Kong	Full Tuition Fee Waiver Monthly Stipend: HK$ 27,100 Conference and Research Travel Allowance: HK$ 13,600/ year
The Education University of Hong Kong	Full Tuition Fee Waiver Monthly Stipend: HK$ 27,100 Conference and Research Travel Allowance: HK$ 13,600/ year On Campus Accommodation
The Hong Kong Polytechnic University	Annual Stipend: HK$ 325,200 Full Tuition Fee Waiver Annual conference Grant: HK$ 13,600 Cash Award: HK$ 40,000 for 1^st year and HK$ 20,000 for 2^nd year University Accommodation
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology	Annual Stipend: HK$ 325,200 Conference Travel Allowance: HK$ 13,600/ year Cash Award: HK$ 40,000 for 1^st year and HK$ 20,000 for 2^nd year University Accommodation
The University of Hong Kong	Annual Stipend: HK$ 325,200 Research Travel Allowance: HK$ 13,600/ year
City University of Hong Kong	Monthly stipend: HK$ 27,100 Conference and Research Travel Allowance: HK$ 13,600

Application Process For Hong Kong Fellowship Scheme

Applicants who fulfill the above mentioned eligibility criteria can go for application and have to follow the described steps

Go to the Hong Kong PhD fellowship scheme electronic system to obtain a reference number
Make and submit an initial application at RGC
Submit another application to the selected university
Applicants can choose two study programs in two different universities and should meet the admission terms decided by the university
Applications will be open form 1^st of September 2022, so candidates should submit their applications as soon as possible to ensure their admission to the university on time.
