Irish education, unlike most other countries, is not dependent on that old teaching method of memorization. Usually students are put to rote all the syllabus of discoveries and inventions but they are not given the mindset of creativity and innovation. Teachers will teach you an algorithm but the real purpose of education is to make you able of inventing better algorithm. Ireland emphasizes on this part of teaching and it has produced many inventors in history.
 
Things you daily use that have made your life easy and many important technologies of today were invented in Ireland; For example: The submarine, color photography, modern tractor, guided missile, nickel-zinc battery, portable defibrillator, Gregg system of shorthand speed writing, modern stethoscope, rubber shoe soles, a treatment for leprosy, soda water, chocolate milk and the aircraft ejector seat are inventions of Irish people.
 
Father of Chemistry, Robert Boyle, is Irish. Inventor of hypodermic syringe, Francis Rynd, is also Irish. First steam turbine of the world was also developed by an Irish named Charles Parsons. First person to artificially split the atom is an Irish known as Ernest Walton who worked with John Cockcroft.
