Here is a question we have been getting a lot, Can we Study Abroad without giving IELTS or TOEFL Test and its certificate? The answer is YES you can! There are particular options available where student can skip IELTS and TOEFL and get admission into an abroad university.
IELTS is basically a university’s requirement not country’s. Before you apply for visa, you first apply to University for admission. Now, to get admission in a university, you must meet their eligibility criteria. Most University’s abroad that teach in English, require their applicants to give a proof of their English language proficiency.
IELTS or TOEFL are one way to prove this skill. However, there are certain cases when universities let loose in this section. Some private universities might not even ask for IELTS or TOEFL, it depends on their own policies. Following are the countries where you can study without IELTS, TEOFFL or another test.
1 - Canada:
Many universities in Canada do not require IELTS or TOEFL. Essentially, applicants whose country’s primary language is English, they need to worry not. Lucky for you, English is the official language of Pakistan along with Urdu. Just be sure that you really do know English because you are going to be mentored in English.
Canada had to change it, when they realized that even without 6.0 in IELTS, many international students showed exceptional performance. So, they made it a little easier for students to approach Canada.

2 - Australia:
Universities in Australia often ignore the need of TOEFL or IELTS scores if the student’s secondary school language of teaching was English, or if they have completed few years of studies in an English speaking country. Moreover, there are some graduate universities that admit students without TOEL or IELTS score if your undergraduate university can verify that their medium of instruction was English.
Just because you don’t need IELTS or TOEFL certificate, it doesn’t mean they won’t test your language proficiency. They may conduct an online interview via Skype to test your communication skills. You somehow have to prove your eligibility to take English-Taught lectures.

3 - Germany:
Whether IELTS or TOEFL certification is necessary or not, specifically depends on the university you apply. It would be the best practice to check your selected university’s eligibility requirements before you apply. There are many Universities in Germany that don’t apply the condition of IELTS or TOEFL scores.
However, they may require a proof from your previous university of your English language proficiency. For some programs, university may officially test your communications.
4 - United States of America:
United States of America being best in the world for higher education don’t have a lot of universities that offer admission without IELTS or TOEFL. Still, there are about 4,500 universities in USA all across their 52 states. So, some of their universities, may be a big number than any other country’s total universities.
Universities that don’t require IELTS or TOEFL in USA, use an alternative of IELP. IELP is Intensive English Language Program, offered by the relative university, which you will have to take and pass its test. If you fail, you will have to prepare and give test again.

5 - Malaysia:
Malaysia is a beautiful country which has also proved itself worthy of world class education. Malaysia is Asia’s top country for education and have some of world’s top universities. They offer a wide range of English-Taught programs for international students. It also has some of campuses of top foreign universities like Nottingham of Australia and Lancaster of United Kingdom.
There is no necessary requirement of English test to study Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD courses in Malaysia. The medium of Instruction of more than 80% of Malaysian Universities is English. If you can prove, you have the capability to learn an English-Taught lecture, you have nothing to worry about.
