An internship for research is designed for international students already enrolled in universities with the purpose of pursuing degrees mainly in the fields of physics, material science, mathematics, chemistry, structural biology, or other relevant fields. ISSP is among the finest summer research programs in Europe for international students. Also, the whole application process is online and free for application. All participants will benefit at different levels in the HZB program. Students will be provided subsistence allowance and trance allowance along with a contract for 8 weeks' internship in Europe for international students.
Internship Program
This international summer student program 2025 in Germany is a great opportunity for students during their research experience and opening gates towards a more productive career. Apart from offering research experience, the students will have availability to international standard labs, site visits, excursions, and even workshops. The HZB International Summer Student programme 2025 would also be a great opportunity to explore the culture of Germany in the capital city, Berlin. More importantly, there is no requirement of IELTS.

Eligibility

The summer internship programme in Germany is open to all students abroad.

The student needs to be pursuing a bachelor's degree. Doctoral or PhD research students cannot participate in the Helmholtz Zentrum Berlin Summer Program.

A student is eligible to join the course under the discipline physics, chemistry, mathematics, material science, structural biology, engineering, life, or environmental sciences or otherwise under any of the branches as mentioned.

In addition, the students should have passed at least 2 years as full-time students for a degree in any of the areas disclosed above.

Before they are qualified to join the HZB program 2025, the students must remain students during their internship in Germany.

The case is similar regarding the summer interns. Students should be conversant in English. Knowledge of the German language will be an added advantage.

The students are thus obliged to return the reference letter before the end application date.
Benefits

External participants shall be offered a monthly allowance of €1,900 gross and students from universities in Berlin and Potsdam of €1,000 gross throughout the term of the contract.

Up to 75% of travel costs will be reimbursed, from a maximum of €200 for countries in the EU and €800 for non-EU countries, in order to help cover the cost of travel between Berlin and your home.
