Most Funny and Weird University Societies You Must Join While Studying Abroad

Assassins' Society:

Institute: Durham University

Their games are very much diverse. In long games members of the society hunt and kill each other across Durham and of course not killing in real they just act to kill and die using safe weaponry. According the official page of Assassin’s Society, in wide games they meet up in a park and play shorter games such as 'Escort the VIP' and some Zombies killing games. They also take part in annual 'Varsity' games with other societies in their country fight like it is a championship.

They say that these plays make them cool, calm and of course ruthless efficient killing machines while some of them are killed like animals with their so called destructive weaponry. They also run many other fun social activities, bar crawls and parties. I wouldn’t mind playing games like this to have an officially registered in one of world’s renowned educational institute, this is kind of weird.

The Sheila And Her Dog Society:

Founded in 1986, there is a weird myth about the name of Cambridge’s most weird society. These society members have rather unusual way to spending their leisure time compared to youngsters. If I have free time, I normally watch drama seasons, read books, play counter strike or spend time with friends but these unique Cambridge alumni spend their time acting like a 6 year old kid, I mean literally acting like they are 6 year old. You will be shocked to their uniform code, a compulsory, is dressing gowns and a teddy bear, you know the cuddly ones. They drink chocolate milk, eat cake and chocolate and other sweets like little kids like to eat.

Theme of this society is based upon a little girl Sheila who is a dog owner. They also read stories for kids and also in an accent like a 6 year old. When a kid does it, it looks cute but imagining grownups do, this is kind of creepy to imagine but also funny at the same time. Still I would very much like to see and spend a day with them. It would be really fun to leaving your serious formal act outside the door and go all childish and totally free.

Jailbreak Society:

You know there comes a time in every student’s life where they found themselves trapped in a jail for years and craving to break out, wait it doesn’t. However, still it wouldn’t kill you to be prepared. That might be the notion this society follows. This weird society of prestigious educational institute, University of Warwick, plays special game that is a replica of breaking out of jail. This game is actually a very popular in England. They organize a charity event in which many students join.

In this game a group of students will have to run as far as possible from jail with their jail being the university campus. Participants are given 36 hours to escape and fun the part is that they can’t use any money or resources. It will come as quite a shock to you that in this game students not only get away from campus or city but in often cases they have made it out of the country and whole region. Still there is a whole university society after this making it one of the most funny and weird societies of the world.

Disney Society:

Institute:  University of Exeter

I still remember how fun my childhood was with Disney cartoons. Bugs Bunny was my favorite. It was quite difficult for me to leave childhood companions behind me, still if I see a Disney program playing on television, I don’t mind watching it. But some alumni of prestigious Exeter University are still unwilling to accept the fact they are now ahead the Disney age. Members of this society get together and play quizzes, pub crawls, musicals and other film marathons and everything according to theme of Disney.
This the place where even in your adulthood you appreciate Disney for making your childhood fun and recall all your memories from years back when you had no worries. I don’t see anything wrong with being a child for a few more years it is not like we have something fun ahead in life waiting for us.

Curry Appreciation Society:

Institution: University of Bath

Have you ever thought if there was no curry in this world, what our life would be like? No? Me neither! However, there is nothing wrong in being appreciative. Seriously, if we didn’t have any curry, we can’t just eat roasted, spicy and dry foods all the time (with watering mouth). This society in University of Bath provides all students who love curry with opportunity to socialize with other curry lovers and treat with their favorite food. They organize some sort of events to in which they make lots of curry and sell it in the campus. Don’t take it easy as it is one of the largest societies in Exeter University.

Mario Kart Society:

Institute: University of Essex

This society is also one of most weird societies like others that unlike normal societies that work toward the healthy activities like sports and technology. This society is for game lovers. Game lovers don’t sound very bad but this is actually more than that as they not only organize events and nights where game leagues and tournaments are played but with that you are also required to dress accordingly. They play tournaments exactly according to game based theme event. They many iconic games and in their events list Mario vs. Luigi themed nights are also included. Mario Kart is one of the oldest globally renowned games this is why society name is based on it.
