Nairobi Summer School on Climate Justice 2025: Fully Funded Opportunity in Ethiopia

About the Program

The Nairobi Summer School on Climate Justice is a two-week event made for grassroots activists and changemakers from across the globe. Since it started, the Pan-African Climate Justice Alliance (PACJA) has partnered with the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) and the African Union (AU) to create a space for learning, connecting, and taking action on climate issues.

In 2025, the program will take place at Addis Abeba University in Ethiopia, running from August 17 to August 30. Participants will arrive on August 16 and head home on August 31. This event is a great chance for anyone looking to pick up the tools and skills to become leaders in climate justice.

Who Can Apply?

If you’re interested in applying for this opportunity, here’s what you should know: 

  • Age: You need to be between 18 and 35 years old. 
  • Education: A high school diploma or something like it is required. 
  • Language: You should be fluent in English, French, or Portuguese.
  • Background: This program is open to anyone from different fields, like community leaders, activists, researchers, farmers, Indigenous folks, and youth groups focused on climate change.

Scholarship Benefits

  • We've got scholarships available for international participants worth $3,500 and for Ethiopian nationals at $2,500. Here’s what’s covered:
    • For international participants, the scholarship takes care of airfare, visas, accommodation, meals, and tuition.
    • Ethiopian nationals will receive help with local transport, lodging, and other costs.
    • If you want to join virtually, its $300, which covers tuition and gives you a certificate once you finish.
  • You’ll get to network with climate justice advocates from around the world.
  • Plus, you’ll gain hands-on experience in climate advocacy, community organizing, and getting involved in policy work.
  • You'll receive a certificate when you complete the program successfully.
