Millions of students appear in SAT tests every year. These standardized tests are taken to assess student’s ability to learn and excel in academics .Here are some reviews from those students who have appeared in SAT exams .Their mixed responses will help the students to learn and practice their upcoming SAT exams .

Practice makes you Perfect:

A Canadian student has stated that he is a website owner and he struggled with SAT and has attempted the test twice for good scores. He has learnt to master the SAT practice tests. When he first took his SAT, he secured 200 points lower than the required score. Later, he did continuous practice of the actual SAT test.  At first, there was very little improvement but soon he learn how to build up a practice test strategy that made him score well in his next attempt.

Reading leads the way:

One of the perfect SAT scorers from India has mentioned that Reading over the years helped her lot especially in the Critical Reading Section of SAT. According to her solving practice papers is very important. She tried to understand the pattern of questions, which helped her to score high. She has set some deadlines and made sure to finish a certain number of practice papers in the given deadline.

Get Tricky:

Another good scorer has stated that “It is just practice. You start to see the patterns, the little mind tricks. You get quicker.”This student is striving hard to become a doctor. He revealed that he spent about an hour a day during the week and three hours on weekends, studying and practicing the SAT questions.

The Audio-Visual Aid:

Another SAT achievers believe in Audio –visual learner. According to him ‘I'm a visual and auditory learner so the video lessons and explanations after each question really helped me grasp the concept and master my mistakes. The timer also helped my brain adjust to test mode to become more concentrated” 

 

Reviews about the New SAT Format:

A review from a smart learner has revealed that “There aren’t as many questions where it’s trying to trick you … It was much more straightforward,”

This student further describes that for math, the new version of SAT was based on fundamental concepts, so it wouldn’t be very ambiguous formulas that you have to remember. If you had the basics

Most of the students prefer the new SAT structure than the older one .According to them the redesigned SAT is more applicable to what they have been learning in school. The English is also easier than the old one.

Another student however finds math a little harder. “It was more algebra based, but I think I was able to perform a lot better on it than the old one because it was stuff that I actually learned in school.”

A writing fanatic comments that his AP English class prepared her for it. She enjoyed the grammar part because she can easily identify the problems in writing. It was a fun experience for her.

The new SAT format has the essay optional.The math section and evidence-based reading and writing sections are concept base and there will be no negative marking for incorrect answers,. Multiple-choice questions have four options to choose from, rather than the prior five. One ‘new format’ SAT test taker has commented that

“By being able to guess, it helps the test takers do better, because there’s a chance of getting the correct answer. The taker may or may not know the material as well as they could, but when time is limited you can’t waste it trying to find the correct answer if something is taking a long time.”
