Swiss Government Excellence Scholarships 2025-26 have a deep-rooted foundation in the global strategy that Switzerland holds toward research, education, and innovation. Switzerland offers scholarships to international students for doing their master's, PhD, and Post-Doc from there. But, the research grant is applicable only for ambitious and self-motivated PhD and Postdoc students while the scholarship for arts students can only be enjoyed for studying at a master's level abroad under this international Swiss Government Scholarship.

Eligibility

  • Master's degree or equivalent before July 31, 2025, except for ETH Zurich before June 30, 2025.
  • Born after December 31, 1989.
  • Research proposal together with its timeframe.
  • Letter of an academic host professor including her/his short CV
  • PhD degree obtained after December 31, 2021 and before July 31, 2025. Except for ETH Zurich the PhD degree should be obtained before June 30, 2025.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent before July 31, 2025.
  • Portfolio certifying artistic maturity and talent.
  • Competency in home, scholarly or professionally in English, German, French or Italian.
  • Enrollment at a Swiss university
  • Two letters of recommendation by professors or supervisors 
  • Medical certificate not older than 6 months
  • Travel document valid for more than 12 months.
 

Required documents

  • Application form signed by FCS
  • Two photocopied pages of applicant's passport
  • CV including list of academic publications and awards
  • Motivation letter, maximum two pages
  • Complete research proposal, maximum five pages
  • Short CV of academic mentor at home institution
  • Two confidential letters of recommendation
  • Copies of grade sheets and certificates (in English, German, French or Italian)
  • original doctor's certificate signed
  • Host professor letter- confirmation as to why they are willing to support your research & supervise.
  • Two sets of documents: one original signed set, with two recommendation letters as applicable, attested in English, and the other a copy of this, excluding the two recommendation letters.

  • Research Proposal, in the case of a research scholarship
  • Portfolio, in the case of art scholarships
  • Two letters of recommendation
  • Medical certificate
  • Language proficiency test results, if needed.
  • Fill up an application form correctly and accurately.
  • Submit two paper copies of the application to the relevant office in your country of origin.
