So, as the title says, following are the most popular countries among international students for higher education. How do we know? You must be aware of UNESCO! If you are not, just do know that it’s a big time organization with all the facts, figures, research and analysis data of everything on the planet.
 
Recently, they published a list of countries that are now a days most preferred by students for their education. Each country has its reasons to be on students top preference like some students want to study free, some favor beautiful cultural places and some just want the best of education. Here I have listed top 10 most popular study abroad destinations favored by international students all around the world and reasons behind it.
 

 
10 -   Italy:
Recently, it is seen that Italy has become one of the most popular study destination in international students securing 10th position in the list. There are around 90 universities in Italy. A total of 12 universities have made it into the world’s top 500 whereas Pakistan don’t even have a single university in this list. Italy is a beautiful country with many stunning places that makes it even more attractive for international students. According to UNESCO, 2% of total foreign student population is currently educating in Italy.
 
Higher education in Italy is mainly provided by a large and international network of public and state affiliated universities. The top Italian university Politecnico di Milano is ranked 183rd in the world that particularly ranks well for its art and engineering courses in the top 20. University of Bologna (UNIBO), at 208th ranked of QS Ranking is located in Italy which holds the title of Most Old University of the world.
 

 
9 -   China:
Study in China is continuously growing and developing especially for the past few decades.  There are over 2,000 universities and colleges, with more than six million enrollments in total. By 2014, there were more than 377,000 foreign students in China. They specially offer English-taught courses to attract international students. Because of all the attractions made by China in their field of higher of education, it has now become the 9th most popular student attraction around the world.
 
 
QS Ranking has also ranked China 8th best in higher education. They have maintained their position by providing the best education possible and maintaining some of the top ranked universities in world. According to UNESCO, 2% of total foreign student population is currently educating in China.
 

 
8 -   Canada:
Canada has always been one of the top countries where higher education is most popular because of its efforts in this field. It is providing an excellent educational environment. As fruit to all its struggles, Canada has managed to become one of world’s most popular countries among international students. Canada now stands as 8th most popular study abroad destination. Students prefer to Study in Canada because it offers quality education at low cost.

Canada is not only top in education but it is also an ideal place to live in, because of its stable government. Due to its international level education and environment, with outstanding performance in promoting Higher Education Canada has secured 5th Position in QS Ranking of best countries for higher education. 7 -   Japan:
The Japanese government has been working hard to maintain its position on an international level and to attract more international students. According to a Japanese educational portal, they have set a target of educating 300,000 foreign students by 2020. In this effort, I would say, by far they are succeeding as Japan has been ranked top 7th most popular study destination among international students.
 
There are more than 780 universities in Japan. Currently, Japan’s top educational institute is University of Tokyo, which ranks 34th in world ranking of QS. Japans also ranks 10th among best countries for higher education. According to UNESCO, 4% of total foreign student population is currently educating in Japan.
 
 

 
6 -   Russia:
One of the most powerful countries on Earth, Russia has also been developing their educational standards for many years. There are hundreds of universities in Russia all providing quality education rather than focusing business. Top Russian university, Lomonosov Moscow State University, is ranked 114th in the latest QS ranking. However, in BRICS the same university is ranked 4th best.
 
 
Russian Federation covers more than one-eighth of the Earth's inhabited land area with just a population of 14 Crore, 9th biggest on Earth. Because of its unlimited opportunities, developed economy and constantly developing education system; Russia has become world’s 6th most popular Study Destination among international students.
 

 
5 -   Germany:
Germany has always been one of the most popular study destinations because of all the conveniences it provides for international students. Higher Education is entirely free in all public universities of Germany for all students. Students are also allowed to work part time to manage their financial expenses.
 
Germany has a long tradition of higher education reflecting the global status as a modern economy. With all the mentioned services, Germany also homes many of the world’s top ranked universities. Top university of Germany, Technical University of Munich is ranked 60th best university. Germany is ranked 3rd best country for Higher Education. So, it’s not a surprise if Germany has secured its standard as 5th most popular study destination.

Because of education standard Australia possess, foreign students are on the rise there, with an average growth rate of 14% yearly. Quality of education in Australia is among the highest in the world with many world class Top Universities. It has over 200 Universities and Colleges that provide high level quality education. That is why Australia has now become 4th most popular student destination in the world, though it was 3rd most popular last year. France is very famous for its cultural heritage and very well known as most romantic country of the world because of its renowned city Paris. France offers a very reasonable fee structure for all students studying there and has same tuition fee for both international and domestic students.
 
 
In world’s best countries of Higher Education, France is ranked 6th best. Its first and official language is French but they offer over 1,100 courses in English-taught and have maintained a quality standard for it. This year France was ranked 3rd most popular study destination among international students.
 

 
2 -   United Kingdom:
This year’s top university of world by THE ranking, the prestigious and significant Oxford University, is located in United Kingdom. Other than Oxford, UK is home to many of the world prominent universities like Cambridge University and Imperial College London. UK is kind of a fort of education on the planet.
 
 
QS Ranking has ranked UK as 2nd best country for higher education. United Kingdom is ranked 2nd best study abroad destination this year. United Kingdom has always been most favorite of international students, but due to recent strictness in its policies on foreigners, it has declined its reputation to 2nd most favorite.

Strong research and funding have helped make American colleges and universities among the world's most prestigious, making them particularly attractive to international students, professors and researchers that are in the pursuit of academic excellence. This year USA was reported the Most Popular Study Destination among international students, though not so much in Pakistan since Trump won elections.
