What is the Forrest Research Foundation Fellowship?
The Forrest Fellowship is intended for early-career postdoctoral scholars who have exhibited outstanding academic success and a desire to make significant contributions to their areas. Eligibility Criteria
Western Australia welcomes career postdoctoral researchers from all over the world. For this Fellowship, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- PhD Requirements: Applicants must have had their PhD conferred on or after January 1, 2022, or have satisfactorily completed all prerequisites for the award of their PhD before December 31, 2024.
- Residency Requirements: Fellows must reside at Forrest Hall in Perth for the duration of the Fellowship. The governors of the Forrest Research Foundation may consider exemptions.
- Employment Eligibility: Applicants must meet the job eligibility requirements of the chosen Western Australian University where they want to hold the Fellowship.
- Research Discipline: The Fellowship is for researchers of all disciplines. Applicants should have an excellent academic record and a strong research background.
Key Benefits of the Forrest Fellowship
The Forrest Research Foundation provides a competitive and comprehensive benefits package aimed to help Fellows with their research and personal development:
- Attractive Salary: Fellows will earn approximately AU$108,362 (plus 17% superannuation) in 2025.
- Accommodation Allowance: An annual allowance of AU$25,116 (subject to tax) for Forrest Hall residency.
- Research and Travel Allowance: A one-time AU$12,000 allowance for research expenses, such as international travel for conferences or fieldwork.
- Relocation Assistance: Coverage of economy airfare for Fellows moving from interstate or internationally to Perth.
- Engagement with the Research Community: Fellows are expected to devote one day each week to mentorship, ambassadorial activities, and leadership responsibilities at the Foundation.
